Hooray, it’s the weekend! And, let’s face it, as much as we may love our jobs, our school or our weekday responsibilities, we aren’t going to complain when the weekend rolls around. As soon as the ‘Happy Friyay’ and ‘TGIF’ gifs start popping up on our phones, the planning begins. Whether we decide to meet up with friends for dinner, see the latest movie, drag ourselves to that yoga class, take the kids to a myriad of classes, hit the shops, spend time with the grand-kids or take a much-needed break with a coffee and a book, we need to plan what to wear!

I’m sure you have all heard the universal phrase, “Oh my goodness, what am I going to wear?” spoken with dread and anxiousness from women all around the globe. And while what to wear may be an easy task for some, for those who struggle with putting outfits together, especially now that the seasons are changing, this can be an add

ed stressor.

What to wear on the weekend shouldn’t be something that takes over your Friday and fills you with dread. So, to make sure you enjoy your weekend to the fullest, I have put together some versatile looks that are simple but stylish and will take you from day to night, no matter what you are doing.

Top 5 Styling Tips:

  1. Mix basics with trendy pieces
  2. Combine 3 colours into your outfit
  3. Dress for your best asset. Have a great waist?—Emphasize that!
  4. Don’t be afraid to wear colour & prints
  5. Match your shoes with your handbag

Let’s ‘Keep Calm & Wardrobe On’ with my weekend wardrobe inspired looks:

Sweater Weather:

Whether it’s chunky knits or colour block patterns, keep warm & stylish with a statement sweater.  Make it the work-horse that lets you keep everything else simple. Wear it with jeans, either skinny or straight leg and add heels, loafers or sneakers to dress it up or down. Finish it off with a hobo-style handbag.

Power Jackets:

A classic motorcycle jacket will take you anywhere. Instead of the standard black colour, try a softer version in beige or go for bold in a strong colour like the purple option below. If you wear blue jeans and heeled boots you get a stylish street-style look that’s also super comfortable. To dress it up for dinner, layer it over a black jumpsuit.

Check Mate:

Plaids and checks can really be dressed up or down.  Check out my post on Must-Have Plaid Bottoms for other plaid options and how to wear the trend. If you want a dressy option, choose a close fitting top or legging and then ground it with a sold black-coloured top or bottom. For relaxed outdoor adventures, then choose a classic plaid shirt and match it with a blue jean.

Weekend Window:

If you love black & whites, then this combination has loads of street-cred. It can be styled with black jeans that work for dinner or shopping. For a relaxed look, tuck the tunic half-way into jeans and pair it with sneakers.

Spot On:

If you read my post on How to Wear Leopard Print, then you will have some other great ways to wear leopard and how you can style it for a relaxed look. My top recommendation is to only wear ONE piece of leopard print at a time. This will make it the star item of your look. Just pair it with solid-coloured basics and you will have a winning weekend outfit.

Trail Blazer:

Make a statement in a blazer or a bomber jacket for chilly weekend temperatures. Just inject colour with either the jacket or the top you layer it with. The floral trend is hot, so this is a great option. Match it either with a pair of dress pants or darker jeans, if you want a more relaxed look.
