TLC SundayOur top tips to help you feel pampered and relaxed...
We all lead busy lives. Working Monday to Friday, taking care of the house, preparing meals, grocery shopping…it can be difficult to find a moment to ourselves sometimes. So why not treat yourself to some much needed TLC this Sunday? Here are our top tips to help you feel pampered and relaxed.
Sleep in late (within reason)
It can be tempting to sleep in until noon on weekends, however oversleeping can often make us feel sluggish and lethargic.
Try to set a wake-up time which gives you an extra couple of hours in bed but won’t eat into the rest of your day.
Your body will thank you for it later and you’ll have no problem getting to sleep later that evening.
Treat your body to some gentle exercise
Although exercise may not sound like the most pampering of activities, it is a great way to get your body moving and reduce stress.
Exercising actually stimulates endorphins in the brain which create positive feelings and make you happier. Working out doesn’t necessarily mean you have to spend hours in the gym staring at 4 blank walls. Try a gentle yoga or pilates class.
Make a green smoothie
After an hour or so of light exercise, you’ll probably have worked up an appetite. Instead of reaching for your usual sugar-loaded granola, opt for a nutritious green smoothie. You can add anything you like, as long as you include a few green ingredients such as spinach, kale or mint.
To this you can add sweet fruits such as raspberries, banana, apple and so on. Choosing a smoothie is a great choice for your body as it is easy to digest, helps your body absorb more nutrients and also increases energy.
Create your own mini spa day
After breakfast, run yourself a nice hot bath with some essential oils and luxurious bath foam. Dampen your hair, then apply a moisture rich mask to the mid-lengths and ends and wrap up into a hot towel while you soak (a few candles can really help relax the senses).
Take the time to truly pamper yourself and do the things you simply don’t have time for during the week: paint your nails, apply a face-mask, exfoliate, read a book.
Go for a walk outdoors
Wrap up in your coziest sweater and pull on a comfy, yet stylish, pair of leggings and get out for a fresh winter walk.
Head to your nearest park with a friend or a loved one and appreciate the fresh air. Listen to the sounds around you: chirping birds, the crunch of snow under your feet, the gentle breeze.
By the time you get back home and snuggle up in front of the fire, you should be feeling well and truly zenned out and mentally prepared to take on the week ahead.
